Street Block Club Report Suspicious Activity and Crime Please report suspcious activity and crime in Hamtramck by calling the main desk of the police department. The number you should call is (313)876-7803. Use your best judgement before deciding if a call is warranted, to help the police manage demand. However, do not hesistate to call regarding suspicious activity. The police may be actively seeking an individual for a recently committed crime and your call could help them locate that suspect. Light the Night The block club asks that all Hamtramck residents leave their front and back porch lights on from dusk until dawn, to deter crime. Saturday Curb Sweep The block club encourages all Hamtramck residents to join their neighbors in picking up litter from in front of and around their home, every Saturday morning between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. Good-bye Yellow Bags Tired of those yellow advertising bags piling up on your porch or in your flowerbeds? Click here to access a website where you can be removed from the delivery route. You can also be removed by calling (888)241-6760 or writing Advo, P.O. Box 249, Windsor, CT 06095. Name Your Garage Hamtramck police ask that all residents place a visible, reflective address marker on their garage, facing the alley, so that officers responding to calls may quickly and accurately identfify targeted locations. Operation Tag the Taggers Please paint over or clean off graffitti from wherever it occurs as soon as it occurs. If you can't do it yourself, email the block club captain to make arrangements for someone to come to your home and paint over the graffitti at no cost to you. The police department is now accepting donations of paint so that they, too, can help residents clean over the work of vandals. Stencil Your Valuables The Hamtramck Police Department has a stenciling tool available to city residents that will help you get back your valuable good if they are ever stolen. Visit the police department in city hall to borrow the stenciling tool, then, inscribe your driver's license number into your goods, such as tvs or computer. If they are stolen and police find them, they will be able to return them to you. Too Many Cats? If cats are bothering you or your family, contact Heidi at Hamtramck Cat (HCAT) by calling 313-418-4035. HCAT is an organization that picks up, domesticates, and places cats with families, wherever possible. Free Soup Kitchen The Holy Cross Polish National Church offers a free soup kitchen on the second Saturday of every month. The kitchen is open from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please make referrals and donations to the Holy Cross Polish National Chruch, 2311 Pulaski Street, Hamtamck, MI 48212. |
