Weclome to Grand Circus Park

No Circus, Two Parks, But Certainly Grand

Grand Circus Park is actually two parks located on the east and west sides of Woodward Avenue, between Witherell and Adams Streets, in Detroit, MI.

Both parks are crescent shaped and both parks contain magnificent fountains in their centers. Seating is ample, and the lawns are always green.

The parks are surrounded by one of the nation's best collections of pre-war architecture, despite the demolition of some buildings to make way for new developments.

From the park, you are only a short walk or People Mover ride away from Foxtown, the Stadium District, Brush Park, Broadway, Harmonie Park, Campus Martius, the Central Business District, the Riverfront Promenade, Cobo Hall or Joe Louis Arena, and much, much more.

Also note worthy are the significant statues located in the north end of either park along Adams Street. In the east, a towering William Cotter Maybury sits looking west, and in the west, a smiling Hazen Pingree looks east.

And, since this is the Motor City, a multi-level parking garage resides under both halves, connected by a narrow tunnel running under Woodward.

Who Ever Heard Of A Park On The Web?

The raison d'etre of Grand Circus Park.com is to inform visitors about things to do, places to stay, and where to find everything when visiting the City of Detroit. There is so much to do and see, no one can post it all, so Grand Circus Park.com focuses on what's important - where to go, where to park, where to pee - and makes recommendations based on first hand local experience, not the opinions of infrequent travelers.

"Crazy" Hazen Pingree was Mayor of Detroit during the great depression of the 1890's. His progressive style helped Detroiters get through the tough times, and as gratitude his name and face appear across the city. Though Pingree Avenue won't get you to his larger than life statue in Grand Circus Park, it will get you a glimpse of the industrial supplies Detroit began making to lift itself from depression to grandure in the early twentieth century.
